It’s the last weekend before Christmas and I want to wish y’all happy holidays with a special thank you to readers who subscribed this year. Just in the past week my subscribers have exploded so thank you and welcome!
I’m sharing this fun Christmas video by Benny Grunch & The Bunch that showcases some Noo Orlenz kulcha. When we first moved here in the late 70s I thought this was the coolest thing and I still think so. Unfortunately, these local icons, which we were fortunate to frequent, are no longer with us:
McKenzies (bakery)
A&G (cafeteria)
K&B (drug store)
Dixie Beer (now called something else & no longer locally owned)
Schwegmann’s (grocery store)
Manuel’s Tamales (Tamales!)
Now we have Trader Joe’s and Cosco which can be found in Any City, USA. Yep.
May ya’ll have the best holiday ever and hope to see you back here next Friday for my Dead Week post.
Thank you, Chatlotte, for a wonderful year sharing your insights, your loves, and your gorgeous words. Your song reminded me of our Texas tradition of listening to Robert Earl Keen’s song on Christmas Eve. Here you go.
