Púca
A midnight watch for travelers
a lingering ‘neath the trees
glances up and down the dell
await with prophetic glee.
The traveler is wary, he’s heard
of late night cries
that echoed in the hamlet’s hills
of a careless prey’s surprise.

What is a Púca? Read all about it here.
I wrote this wee poem last year in response to a Folktober Eckphrastic challenge on The Wombwell Rainbow, the website of poet Paul Brookes.
Listen to a podcast about the Púca here.
Happy Halloween! Be vigilant.
A fascinating creature. Thanks for sharing this.
