“Family Promise” - great resource. Also, if children attend a public school, the students are considered “in transition” and school counselors can initiate procedures to locate housing, temporary (motel) leading to more permanent. :)
Yes, the docu follows 3 families - 2 in Florida where the dads work for minimum wage at Disney World & they live in cheap motels. Seeing the actual room where a family of 8 lives is shocking. They lost everything when the Covid mandates decimated the companies where they worked & wrecked the economy. The motel manager said most families end up evicted when they can’t meet the weekly rent. They rotate from cheap motel to cheap motel. A 21 y/o woman with a toddler and a baby who lived out of her car in California was followed for several days. She was in a pretty hopeless situation. I can’t get her off my mind. The docu is mind-blowing because you see how they struggle day to day. Apparently, they make too much to qualify for Medicaid & food stamps but not enough to save anything so they can escape their hell.
Thank you for this sad beauty, Charlotte. Everything is not merry and bright for everyone.
It is not, as the past few days has shown us.
That’s life. Beautiful!🙂
So true, and ongoing...

Still a lot of motel living here because the rents have become so high, it seems never ending …
“Belief is a word pregnant with hope.” A strong poem, Charlotte.
Thanks, Sam and thanks for the restack. 💛
