I have a new creative nonfiction piece in Still: The Journal. They’ve announced this is their last issue after 15 years so, while it’s a happy publishing day, it’s also a sad one. I send my deepest thanks to the wonderful, kind editors for publishing my work 3 times and for nominating one of my stories that was selected for the Best Small Fictions 2022 anthology. I will always be grateful. Still published exciting, thoughtful, interesting work by Appalachian writers & those with ties to the region. It will be greatly missed.

What a stunning piece! The "compassion, shame, or a shared sense of not belonging," the darkness, the "unknowable truth of it." This one will stay with me.
I will miss Still precisely because they publish work like this- good writing full of nuance. I think this is an important part of the "me too" conversation that we don't often hear. Thank you for sharing your story.
