Thanks for the list! As for rating books, I rarely leave a rating unless I can give a 4 or 5 because, as you note, too many writers think a 3 means you didn't like their book, regardless of what you might say in a review.
I urge you to reconsider leaving reviews. They are so important to indie writers. That you are an emotional reader makes it even more imperative. I'm an emotional reader, too, and my reviews focus on how I connected with a story, how the characters got under my skin, and how I couldn't stop reading because I had to know what happened next. Generally, authors who read my reviews have been happy with them because of the emotional connection so ... please reconsider :-)
Have to mention, my most treasured book “Harriet the Spy” was given to me by my NYC grandmother. Read it 18 times, and after each read, recorded the date inside the cover and signed my name - lol, loved that book and the illustrations.
Thank you for recommending my book, Charlotte. I’m grateful. I too still have my childhood copy of Hans Brinker! Congratulations again on your inclusion in Small Fictions.
Enjoyed every bit of this. Thank you for sharing the links. I feel exactly as you do about Good Reads and rating books.
Thanks for much for reading, Patricia!
And congratulations on your publication!
Thanks!!

Hey, we have a childhood book in common! Cool! I think I might even reread it now, as an adult.
Thank you for the shout out!!
