I feel the same way about previous blogs-- often we aren't the same person we were 20 years ago. Even though (or maybe because) I have many little collections of stuff around my house, it feels so freeing to let those words go. Reminds me of sand mandalas; if you're not familiar with them, Buddhist monks make these elaborate mandalas with colorful sand and then sweep it all away when they're done. It makes me a little breathless to see, but what a great lesson in non-attachment to our creative work.
It’s funny - I’m not as prone to discard my old journals, although I have done a couple. Yes, we’ve had monks visit here two years in a row constructing a mandala. I missed it both years - wah!
